PROJECT:
AGWA GALLERY MAP

INFO:
Working closely with the Art Gallery of Western Australia’s first Guest Artistic Director and renowned contemporary artist Ian Strange, Gesture Systems produced an updated gallery map informed by the distinct hexagonal geometry of the institution’s iconic brutalist building. Developed through detailed illustration using architectural drawings by Craig Nener, the work was realised as an adaptable A3 fold-out floor map and exhibition guide, and as an animation for AGWA’s newly installed, large-scale welcome screen. This work was undertaken as part of a major rebrand for the state institution, which relaunched in 2021 with a celebration of Western Australian art and creativity titled The View From Here.

YEAR:
2021
